People usually have doubts about the Proceeding papers, well the answer to this is that the academic articles published based on academic events such as conferences, workshops, and colloquiums, and so on are counted in proceeding papers that gives the opportunity to meet with professional researchers in your area. This shows the contribution made by researchers. Proceedings papers are not much peer reviewed in many cases that’s why some people called it Grey Literature. Some facts that one should always keep in mind before publish research paper are that, your research is worthless until it is published, the value of an article increases when it is being CITED in other research articles. When number of citations increases it is good for author as well as for the Journal. Citation rates are heavily dependent on the discipline and the number of people working in that area. A work’s research impact is an indication of how much it contributes to further research however; the number of times cited for an article is highly correlated with the length of time since its publication. Now the question that arises is that how to get citation values? Well that can be achieved by services like Google Scholar, Microsoft academic search, crossref etc. Citations are counted in the repository only if cited and the citing articles are indexed. This depicts that citation scores are depended on larger databases. Some people asks direct formula for the citation index, well this is not thumb rule but layman theory says the number of Citation received in the published articles in particular journal divide by total number of articles published in that particular Journal (during 2 proceeding years). For Example Journal Nature had an impact factor of 41 in 2014, so an average Nature article published in 2012 and 2013 received 41 citations each in 2014. However, the 2014 impact factor is only reported in 2015 and they cannot be calculated until all of the 2014 publications have been processed by indexing agency.
